The Brew Family of Wales, London, Northern Ireland, United States and Australia

The earliest recorded evidence of my family's ancestors are the banns of marriage between John Brew and Mary Taylor on three consecutive Sundays in November 1788, in the parish of Chepstow, in Monmouthshire, Wales.

At their wedding, on 24 December 1788, both were recorded as being 'of this parish', but no previous evidence of John's existence in Chepstow survives. Despite a great deal of effort, it has thus far proven impossible to establish either John's origin or parentage.

However, his son Thomas' apprenticeship indenture, dated 1809, alludes to the fact that John had died by 1805, although neither date nor place of death have been found.

.	John and Mary had two children which we know of. The male line of their eldest son, John jnr., seems to have died out, but descendants of their second son, Thomas, are many, and live today in Australia, England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the United States. This is their story...	.
