Jane's Marriage Certificate
Jane Brew, of full age, spinster, residing at Mamhilad, Monmouthshire, Wales, daughter of Thomas Brew, Ropemaker, married Blandford Lucras, of full age, bachelor, Labourer, residing in Mamhilad, son of Thomas Lucras, Butcher, in the Parish Church in Parish Mamhilad according to the rites and ceremonies of the Church of England, on 8 August 1839. The mark of 'X' Blandford Lucras [he was therefore illiterate], and the signature of Jane Brew. Witnesses to the wedding were: The mark of 'X' Morgan Reynolds, and the signature of Elizabeth James; William Bolland was Officiating Minister.
CorrectionSubsequent research has shown that Blandford Lucras, who we have been unable to find anywhere, is in fact a spelling mistake. His real name was Blanford Lucas.
