1879 Marriage at the Registry Office in the District of Carmarthen in the County of Carmarthenshire

No.15, 19 October 1879, between Alfred Poulton, 23 years, bachelor, "stoker on railway", of New Milford, Pembroke, father: Thomas Poulton, Smith, and Alice Brew, 19 years, spinster, of Pensarn 2, Llangunnor, father: George Brew, Locomotive Foreman. Signed by both Alfred and Alice. Witnesses were George Brew and Esther Ann Dobson. John Evans, Registrar, John William Philipps, Superintendent Registrar.

On her wedding day, Alice was presented with a family bible by her father, George, which still exists today, in Alice's great grandson's family, by the name of Oldfield. In the 1880's, Alfred and Alice moved to the Canton area of Cardiff. Though Alice brought five children to the world, only one survived to adulthood. They were Thomas George, 3 July 1880-1895; Charles T., 28-29 May 1881; Elizabeth Jane "Bessie", 20 September 1882-4 November 1953; Alice Mary, 3-4 January 1884; and Edgar Charles, 17 July 1891-1896

Alfred, however, died in Cardiff in 1894 and Alice remarried on 17 July 1895, to William Robert "Bill" Gentel. Alice brought a further two children to the world, but once again only one child survived infancy. They were Winifred Sarah, 20 November 1896-20 September 1897, and Alice May, 26 August 1900-?

Bill died in Cardiff 23 February 1932

Alice died in Cardiff 17 May 1932

Elizabeth "Bessie" Gentel, born Poulton, married Henry Burman in Cardiff in 1903. They had seven children. Alice May Gentel married Arthur Henry Morgan 7 June 1924. They had only one child, who died at 17.
