PROCEEDINGS OF A REGIMENTAL BOARD, held this day, in conformity to the Articles of War, for the purpose of verifying and recording the Services, Conduct, Character, and cause of Discharge of No. 744/6, Corporal Richard Brew

THE BOARD having examined and compared the Regimental Records, the Soldier's Book, and such other Documents as appeared to them to be necessary, report that, after making every deduction required by Her Majesty's Regulations, the Service up to this day, which he is entitled to reckon amounts to 21 20 years, 79 349 days, as shown by the detailed Statement on the 2nd page; during which period he served abroad 13 328/365  14  37/365 years, viz.:

at Corfu                                                           5  328/365 years,

in East Indies                                                  8    74/365 years;

and further, that is DISCHARGE is proposed in consequence of

With regard to the CHARACTER AND CONDUCT of No. 744/6 Corporal Richard Brew the Board have to report that, upon reference to the Defaulters' Book, and by the Parole testimony that has been given, it appears that

He is in possession of four Good Conduct Badges. He is in possession of a Medal presented on the Queen's assuming of the title of "Empress of India" and is also in possession of a 2nd class school certificate

The charge, finding, and sentence, on each occasion, is to be recorded on a separate sheet, which is to accompany the Discharge Documents.

His name appears thirty one times in the Regimental Defaulters' Book. Two of which entries are trials by Court Martial
[If this man received Wounds, &c., in action, or other Injuries in or by the Service, although not invalided on account thereof, state here the nature of the wound, or injuries, and when and where he received the same, and if any Court of Inquiry was held, (as is required,) state or annex the result.] None

No. 744/6 Corporal Richard Brew being asked to what date he has been paid, answered, that his Account is balanced up to the latest period required by the Regulations; and being further asked whether he has any claim on the Regiment for Arrears of PAY, ALLOWANCES, or CLOTHING, answered that he has received all just demands, from his entry into the Service up to the 5th January 1877 and in confirmation thereof, affixes his signature hereto.

The Board have ascertained that No. 744/6 Corporal Richard Brew Soldier's Book is correctly balanced, and signed by the Officer Commanding his Company, and they declare, that they have impartially inquired into, and faithfully reported upon, all the matters brought before them, in accordance with the Regulations and Instructions issued by Her Majesty's Orders.

No. 744/6 Corporal Richard Brew referred to in the preceding pages, by Trade a  Striker to a Smith was born in the Parish of Chepstow near the Town of Chepstow in the County of Monmouth and attested for the Royal Regt. of Artillery at Newport, Monmouth in the County of Monmouth on the 31st July 1855 at the Age of 21 5/12 years
