This website is to a large extent an enormous index of every mention of the surname BREW which we have been able to locate around the world. It is broken down into regions to make it easier, and sources are always named. Besides lists of indexed data, there are also personal family trees with links to submitters. The intention is for the visitor to take any data found here as a starting point, and go to the named sources to obtain further data. While we have sought to be accurate, we have not been able to double check all information, and so recommend that data is always re-checked at the named sources, and not taken on face value alone.

Yes. A search engine is provided for this purpose, which will save you going through each separate database looking for information. However, for common names such as John, Thomas, Mary, and Jane, for example, we suggest it might be better to concentrate on the particular area of research and review each database within a region separately.

No, unfortunately, not anymore. In the past this was possible, but now that the site is no longer being maintained, this is no longer possible. My apologies. However, for those who have their research on the site already, but wish to have it removed, please e-mail me.

Yes. The Bulletin Board is provided for this. Feel free to list any query or research problem you may have, and give as much information as you can - the more the better. Locations, dates and full names are important, especially the latter, as many names, such as John and Thomas, are very common.

Generally speaking, yes. Please contact the submitter directly. His or her details are given on the same page as the data appears. Usually, the contact information provided is no more than a name, city/town and e-mail address, for reasons of privacy. Unless a postal address and/or telephone number (rare) are provided, please only use the e-mail address, and do not contact a person by any other means. Normally e-mails are gratefully accepted, but please be aware that no person is obligated to give you any more information on their family tree other than what they have released for inclusion on this site. This is alone the submitter's prerogative.

No, unfortunately, not anymore. In the past, we sent out a bulletin approximately four times per year with updates and news, called 'Brews News'. However, this is no longer being produced. That said, you can still access old editions of of the bulletin through the 'Miscellaneous Databases' drop-down list on the 'Databases' page.

Yes, by all means. You do not need permission to do so, but we prefer you link to the title page (the page you came from to get to this one) rather than an individual page. The address to link to is: http://brew.clients.ch/BrewONS.htm
